Become a sponsor to The Graph Foundation
Our Mission
The mission of Graph Foundation, a not for profit corporation, is to further, at no charge, the Open Source development and distribution of graph technology in the areas of software, storage, networking, clustering, parallel and distributed computation, query processing, analytics, visualization, machine learning, artificial intelligence and cloud accessibility, while serving the community with mentoring, leadership and vision for a healthy graph ecosystem.
Why Should I Sponsor GF?
Graph Foundation provides support for the Graph community of open-source software projects. The Graph Foundation projects are characterized by a collaborative, consensus based development process, an open and pragmatic software license, and a desire to create high quality software that leads the way in its field. We consider ourselves not simply a group of projects sharing a server, but rather a community of developers and users.
Graph Foundation provides the infrastructure for the projects – the mailing lists, code repositories, bug tracking systems, etc. These resources are maintained by a few paid contractors (as well as by large amounts of volunteer effort). This, in addition to the large costs of bandwidth and server hardware, constitutes the bulk of the expense of running the Foundation.
By sponsoring GF you show your support for our mission and help sustain a vibrant organization. Sponsorship also shows your support for Open Source and provides you the opportunity to give back to the community. Finally, since GF is a non-profit organization, sponsorship provides attractive tax benefits.
Where will my sponsorship funds go?
Graph Foundation as an official non-profit organization (our founders have been in the ecosystem for over 10 years) starting playing a formal role in the graph ecosystem in 2018 and the first active project is Open Native Graph DB (the free and open source native graph database project). We are responsible for maintaining the open source nature of the code base with a plain AGPLv3 license, all restrictive marks removed and removed capabilities re-added to ensure that it continues to be available free of use for all to use.
We also have the normal business operating expenses which go with any organization. These include:
- Bandwidth costs
- Servers and hardware (in cloud)
- Legal and Accounting
- Normal office expenses
- Marketing and PR
- Sub-contractors to “fill in the holes” for administrative and secretarial duties.
Your sponsorship will allow the GF to meet these expenses as well as expand our capability to establish our leadership in the developer and Open Source graph communities. Funding will allow us to perform pro-active project code improvement, enhance our community outreach, and perform non-code related improvements to projects such as better documentation and more comprehensive websites.
GF is a Non-Profit Organization
Graph Foundation is a private operating foundation that is registered as a non-profit, charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. This means that, for individuals within the U.S., donations to TGF should be tax-deductible. We are not accountants, so this cannot be trusted as financial advice of any kind, but hopefully this description will be useful to those who advise you in these matters. You may view our ruling letter from the IRS acknowledging our 501(c)3 status.
